Counselling

As a child, I experienced extreme abuse both at home and at school. I was abused by my father during my childhood sexually, emotionally, mentally, psychologically, physically.

He is a terrible man. He also abused my brother, which I did not find out until I was an adult, and when my brother died due to PTSD brought on by the extreme abuse, he suffered my brother.

I had a complicated relationship with each other due to my father and, therefore, was made even more complex when he passed away. My mother was neglectful and more consumed with her own needs, leaving me to act like the adult and her as the child.

At school, I was bullied terribly by the children. Both in primary and high school, my grades suffered terribly, and I could not learn until I dropped out of school.

I learnt much more out of school than I did in it. I have also suffered from my health. I have had metal rods put into my spine at 17 as I had a severe curvature before they operated.

I had a back brace which did not work. However, it did work at having the bullies be even curler to me. After my operation, I was and still am today in chronic back pain due to slipped disks and a bolt protruding into my soft tissue.

I then formed epilepsy after the surgery and still have it.
I also suffer from fibromyalgia which is an awful condition to have to live with debilitating a lot of the time.

Likewise, I as well suffer from short gut syndrome (SBS). I have had my colon removed due to a loss of blood circulation to my colon, leaving me with sepsis nearly dying. I went to the hospital with thoughts of it being a nasty tummy bug and then woke up with a colostomy bag attached to my stomach.

It was a nightmare and took me such a long time to get used to. After a year, I had a resection leaving me with SBS. However, no longer with the bag. I also have complex PTSD due to my childhood, and I am telling you all of this to see that I am like you and can relate to such a wide variety of people.

This is to show that you are not alone. My lived experience gives me, I believe, a fresh perspective and the ability to empathise more deeply.

In terms of expertise I am a professional counsellor and have a generalised knowledge of assorted categories, I have a diploma to back that up, I have done my research so to speak and have discovered and uncovered more areas than ever before, it has been a difficult but also rewarding experience I always like to keep up with current events and changes towards mental health and feel that more should be done to raise awareness and bring about change to stop this stigma that others have. In short, I have a professional experience within counselling and mental health.

A Lived Experience

My Approach

My approach is a completely person centred one I am more concerned of the person as a whole and how I can relate to them on a personal level is just as important as how I relate to them on a professional level.

I show pure empathy and understanding for all people and have an understanding nature treating everyone with respect.
